Lakewood Chiropractor Dr. Jeff Anderson
"Originally, I was a skeptic," admits Dr. Jeff Anderson.
That was before I suffered the worst sprained ankle of my life. I was playing wallyball in a racquetball court when I landed hard on an inverted ankle. The pain was intense, and the ankle began to swell immediately.
"Fortunately, I was able to get an appointment to get some chiropractic treatment about an hour after I sprained my ankle. I received Activator instrument adjustments on my spine and on my ankle to realign the spinal joints and provide optimal joint motion to the ankle. I received four adjustments in the span of two days (one visit in the morning and one visit in the evening), and after the four adjustments was walking full weight-bearing on the worst sprained ankle of my life... only two days later!
"I was floored, to say the least," remembers Dr. Anderson.
Prior to my chiropractic experience, I had sprained my ankle several times before and it often took months for my ankle to feel like it had recuperated. It was the first time I had real firsthand experience about the healing potential for chiropractic. From that point on, I knew what type of doctor I wanted to be."
Dr. Anderson started his career path by graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology (neurobiology) from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO in 1989. "I always knew from a child I wanted to go into healthcare, especially some type of physical medicine. At that time, I had no idea what chiropractic was about." Dr. Anderson continues, "It wasn't until I met Dr. Wiggins, the first chiropractor I ever met, who influenced me to become a chiropractor."
Dr. Anderson went on to chiropractic school in St Louis, MO and received his doctorate of chiropractic Logan College of Chiropractic in April 1993. While at Logan, Dr. Anderson received additional certification in Thompson technique, Activator technique, Nimmo trigger point therapy, Diversified and Basic techniques, ergonomic and work related injuries, and electrophysiological therapies. While at Logan, Dr. Anderson won the research award for his research paper, The Inter-Rater Reliability of Locating Trigger Points in 1993.
After his training at Logan College of Chiropractic Dr. Anderson completed his acupuncture certification in Colorado with the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture and was certified for Acupuncture in the state of Colorado in November 1999. Dr. Anderson has also completed the ACE (Achieving Clinical Excellence) for integrative functional medicine in the year 2000. During 2002, Dr. Anderson completed his advanced certification in Whiplash and Brain Traumatology with Dr. Arthur Croft, DC, and has recently completed a certification program in Neuromechanical Instrument Adjusting in May 2010.
"We love skeptics," smiles Dr. Anderson.
"I still remember the concerns and apprehension I had when I went to the chiropractor for the first time. So we make it a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and attempt to over communicate. Patients appreciate that."
